air purification
Cleaning the air we live in is an important part of allergy control. We have air purifiers to suit a variety of situations and room sizes. We have added three new machines for this year. The AirFree is a metal air steriliser, completely silent with no filters to change. Because it filters out ozone it is ideal for office use where computers, printers, photo-copiers all give off ozone. Alternatively, it can be used in the bedroom to control mould, dust mites and ozone. The
Siesta Photocatalytic air purifier is the ultimate in high tech air cleaning since it removes airborne contaminants, cigarette smoke, chemical pollutants, odours and kills germs and bacteria. It has only one replaceable filter which comes in a a roll that lasts up to 4 years. The Siesta is virtually silent on its “silent” setting. We have added a small HEPA filter to the Prem-I-Air air range and continue to offer the Roomaid, a metal unit for the effective removal of particles and chemicals. The room sizes are based on 3 to 4 air changes per hour. The HEPA filters will remove dust, pollen, moulds and other airborne allergens but are not usually recommended for smoke removal as this will clog the filter. When considering purchasing an air purifier, the following factors are important: air quality, size of room and size of unit. The Hepa units and the Roomaid all have an activated carbon filter which helps to remove odours and chemicals from the air. Carbon is activated by removing one neutron from the carbon molecule. When the air passes through the filter the activated carbon adsorbs the odours and chemicals. The Roomaid and the XR-100 car filter are metal units and contain a special carbon and zeolite filter that effectively removes V.O.C.s and additional chemicals and odours. The other units in our range are all made of hard plastic. Some units have an ioniser. These have the added benefit of revitalising the air.
